My name is Petrina Yemane. I am the Founder of The Ethiopian Foundation, a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization. I have been married for 18 years and have two boys, 14 and 11 years old. I have a second Masters Degree in Counseling from the City University of New York. I am a published author on Amazon.com and a blogger on humanitarian giving and healthy marriages. My motivation to help others stems from my experience working as a Mental Health Consultant, for two years, in East Africa. A few years ago, I had the wonderful opportunity to speak to a graduating High School Class of 2010, in New York City. I spoke to the graduates about Success and Failure and how they can turn any failure into success. My hopes for their future is the same goal for this foundation: To help others along their journey and to never settle for mediocrity.
Our mission at The Ethiopian Foundation (TEF) is to support the Ethiopian community through providing financial support through academic scholarships. We the members are active participants and volunteers throughout our communities respectively. Our goal is to bring together our individual resources and professional expertise to invest in the lives of young adults within the tri-state area. We hope to inspire our students to excellence while providing scholarship funds raised through members, donors, and community organization efforts.
